Next Steps

Whether you’re brand new or you’ve been worshiping with us for a while, we’d love to help you take a clear next step in growing as a disciple of Jesus, rooted in His Word, gathered with His people, and strengthened by His gifts.

Below are two common pathways to membership, depending on your season of life.

For Children and Families

The best “next step” for children is simple and steady: continue coming to Divine Services, hearing God’s promises, and receiving Christ’s care alongside their family and church family.

Sunday School is strongly encouraged.

  • Sunday School helps children learn the Scriptures, the story of salvation, and the basics of the Christian faith in an age-appropriate way, supported by caring teachers and a congregation that rejoices to see children grow.

Confirmation (typically starting around 5th or 6th grade).

  • Generally beginning in 5th or 6th grade, children begin Confirmation Studies, a 2–3 year process of deeper catechesis (instruction). Confirmation is designed to prepare them to become full communicant members and to receive the Holy Communion with understanding and pastoral care.

A “yes” of their own to the faith given in Baptism.

  • In Confirmation, students learn to affirm personally the vows and commitments that were spoken for them at their Baptism, standing on the promises God has already given and growing into mature, lifelong discipleship.

For Adults

If you’re getting comfortable with our congregation, our worship, and our practice, the next step is simply to visit with the pastor. That conversation helps clarify your background, your questions, and the best path forward.

Two common routes:

Transfer from another LCMS congregation

  • If you are already a communicant member in good standing at another LCMS congregation, we can help you with a simple and joyful transfer process.

Adult Confirmation / Catechesis

  • If you have never been instructed in the Christian faith from a Confessional Lutheran perspective (or if you’re unsure), the pastor can help you begin an adult confirmation course. This is a thoughtful, guided introduction to what we believe, teach, and confess, centered on Christ, grounded in Scripture, and shaped by the Lutheran Confessions.
